I’m an experienced and friendly Maths Tutor based in Uckfield, East Sussex. I offer maths tuition from KS3 to A-Level both in your home and online.

For tuition in person I travel within a ten mile radius of Uckfield and cover students in Uckfield, Lewes, Chailey, Crowborough, Heathfield and the surrounding areas.

Experience

I have been tutoring maths since 2016 and currently have over 3000 hours of tutoring experience for students at KS3, GCSE and A-Level. I have tutored pupils from a range of schools and colleges including Uckfield College, Chailey School, Priory School Lewes, Lewes Old Grammar School, St Paul’s Catholic College, Collyers, BHASVIC and East Sussex College.

Prior to commencing work as a tutor I worked for nearly ten years in a professional role which involved the application of mathematical skills in a real world context including statistical modelling and analysis of large datasets. This helps me link mathematical techniques being learnt to real life situations.

My Approach

I have a flexible approach to tutoring, recognising that the needs of individual tutees will vary dependent on their circumstances. The flexibility that I offer begins with the amount of tuition I provide which can vary from multiple sessions per week to one-off sessions on specific topics. I aim to respond proactively to urgent requests and am happy to rearrange my diary where possible to fit tutees in should unforeseen circumstances arise for specific lessons.

I also take a flexible approach to the content of lessons. With my extensive experience I can address almost all topics in a lesson without prior notification and can therefore respond immediately to tutee requests. Where tutees seek guidance on topics to cover I have experience of typical topics that students struggle with and areas where gaps are common. I can rapidly identify key gaps in a tutees knowledge.

I adapt my teaching methods to the needs of individual tutees but always build my approach around the three key planks of Knowledge, Experience and Confidence. Initially I focus on building up a students knowledge base so that they can then practice questions with positive results. This increases their confidence levels and creates a virtuous circle of learning. I find that for many students confidence is really important and I aim to teach in a kind and reassuring manner to help instill confidence in my tutees.
